I thought I should review this old post of mine. I FTA big time.

10 Things to do this Summer

 19/06/2007 by Jo.

What is the deal with this poxy weather. I have all these new toys but am unable to use then due to crap weather. We have been out in the inflatable kayak only once since we bought it. Been out on the roller blades only once. My windsurfing lessons have ground to a halt. Summer will be over before I know it and I wont have acheived anything. So to help me reach my targets I have made a “things to do this summer” list.

  1. Be proficient at windsurfing.  <<<< I tried it once
  2. Try kite surfing.  <<<< cancelled lesson due to crap weather
  3. Learn to stop effectively on my roller blades and not run over dogs.  <<<< Used roller blades once
  4. Reach my target weight of 55 kgs and maintain it.  <<<< still hovering around 63kg
  5. Catch the ferry to Cherbourg and cycle around Normandy for a weekend.  <<<< didnt happen
  6. Sail and cycle around Croatia.  <<<< didnt happen, tho went to Turkey instead
  7. Finish renovating my flat.   <<<< didnt happen
  8. Use the kayak at least 5 times.  <<<<  I can only recall using it 3 times
  9. Go snorkeling and try out my new wetsuit. <<<<   YES! I did this over at Brownsea Island
  10. Catch a fish and eat it.  <<<< Didnt happen, tho we did try.

Blogslack

My blog has been a bit neglected, but it will all pick up when we do our big aussie tour next year. I’m finishing work on the 9th Nov and heading home in December for Christmas etc, then aussie in the new year.

I am back on the gym wagon and have increased my personal training sessions to twice a week. Its costing a fortune but I cant be trusted to go to the gym on my own. I’ve also cut way back on alcohol and am back on detoxinabox in a desperate attempt to lose weight before we head back home on Dec.  So far, nothing seems to be happening, but it appears I may have lost some weight off my back. Well woop-de-do. Thats like losing weight off my big toe. Why does the weight never come off where we want it to?

Other than that, all weekends up until we leave are now booked solid, so its gonna be a busy little time.

Halloween party this weekend so will have some crazzzeeee piccys I’m sure.

Oh, and its now getting dark at 6pm and daylight saving ends this weekend. winter is here.

Live Earth Concert

The Live Earth Concert was good. The sun came out and we even got burnt. We had allocated seats in the stand, with the toilets and drinks very close. Not quite the atmosphere of down the front, but definitely more comfy.

It was quite ironic really, a concert to make people more environmentally aware, yet they served drinks in plastic containers. There were so many used plastic containers people were making a huge snake out of them. Here is a picture of the snake.

We got there early and this is before the crowd arrived.

Diet Update

I was just kidding with that last post, we do have a real toilet in now, not a porta potti. but Mike still has to paint and stuff so I will post the new photos when he has finished. By the way you can look at the pictures of our new kitchen via the Renovation Project link at the top of the page.

I am 7 days into my detox diet and it is going well although I fell off the wagon slightly on the weekend. I never thought I could actually enjoy a Vegetarian diet. A Vegetarian diet without dairy or wheat even. Alot of vegetarians smother their food in cheese to get any taste. Seems to be missing the point of vegetarianism if you do that. But this diet is extremely tasty without all that. Before the diet, bread and pasta were pretty big in my life, but I have been wheat free for over a week now and I’m not missing it at all.  I’m still getting the bloating though, so wheat doesnt seem to be the cause of that (i didnt think it was but everyone else seemed to think it was. narrow minded people).

On the scales I have lost a kilo, but I am a bit reluctant to believe that as I dont feel any thinner. Also I have gone from 30.7% body fat to 30.4%. Again, I am a bit reluctant to believe my body fat scales here too. I want to see results not read them.

I will see how i look and feel after the 30 days (23 more days to go)

Detox Diet

I started the detox diet yesterday and so far so good, the food has been delicious. I didnt think it possible to go wheat free and not be hungry. Here was yesterdays menu:

Breakfast – Muesli with apricots and dates

Lunch – Tuna with lime and dill, curried quinoa and toasted almond and herb salad

Dinner – Aduki bean casserole topped with sprouted mung beans

The mung beans were just like noodles.

Americas Cup

Those of you who dont know, I work for UBS which is a major sponsor of Alinghi in the americas cup. Here’s a diagram of boat parts from their website. There’s a mistake there that the sailors among us might pick up. Good to see UBS is up with the lingo, NOT!. By the way, does anyone know what a keelbomb is? And is anyone reading this blog apart from Jenny?

Aussie Pink Floyd

We went to the Australian Pink Floyd Concert in Bournemouth last night and words really cant describe how amazing it was. The stage and lighting was incredible, the music just like Pink Floyd and this big scary pig with red flashing eyes. Heres some photos of the night.
