Main<\/strong><\/p>\n Lentil Curry Dessert<\/strong><\/p>\n Feijoa Sorbet<\/p>\n Apart from missing a part for the ice-cream maker and a couple of badly behaved guests who insisted on watching Americal Idol (A program I despise) – The evening wasn’t too disastrous – I think – I can’t really remember.<\/p>\n The day went something like this:<\/p>\n 8am<\/p>\n Make the syrup for my Feijoa sorbet and chop some Feijoas.<\/p>\n Then I made the tandoori marinade for the chicken and tofu.<\/p>\n I had a tearful time chopping the onions – so in traditional Come Dine With Me style, I tried the spoon in the mouth trick and it really worked! (contact lenses usually work well too – but I happened to be wearing glasses for the prep)<\/p>\n Then I fried some onions, spices, browned the lamb, added tomatoes – then chucked it all in the crockpot and ignored it for the rest of the day.<\/p>\n Then I made my onion bhaji mix – ready to be cooked when the guests arrive.<\/p>\n Then I made a samosa mix, fried it up and rolled it into sausage rolls<\/p>\n Then I made the Makhanwala sauce and put it aside for later.<\/p>\n Then I looked at my mess and decided I needed a nap.<\/p>\n Nap over I worked on the last bits and pieces before the guests arrived. The Theme was Black and Red which is why everyone is wearing black and red.<\/p>\n The guests have arrived…..<\/p>\n Mike – in his fancy $2 tie and a pair of Lynda’s socks<\/strong><\/p>\n Lynda and Me<\/strong><\/p>\n Jenny and the Hula Hoop<\/strong><\/p>\n For some reason our camera man didn’t get a photo of Barry.<\/p>\n Time to check the oven contents<\/p>\n Dishing up the starter – bloody bhaji moved when Mike took the photo. grrrr<\/p>\n Then the mains arrive:<\/p>\n Spiced Potatoes<\/strong><\/p>\n Lentil Curry<\/strong><\/p>\n Pappadams<\/strong><\/p>\n Our photographer let us down again and didn’t get photos of all the mains – so here is the lot from a distance.<\/p>\n And a little of each on a plate<\/p>\n Then I chopped some kiwifruit to decorate my sorbet – using my trusty lit<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" I did a curry night – which involved preparing nine dishes – a task I will never ever do again.
