We took our time this morning, just enjoying the nice spot we\u2019d camped at, and got away just after lunch.
\nIt was a gorgeous drive today, most of it along the south coast. <\/p>\n
Our plan was to head to the lighthouse at the southern tip of Scotland. As we got closer, the road narrowed to a single lane. <\/p>\n
We could tell it was a tourist area as there were signposts marking where the passing spots were! And even then, people couldn\u2019t figure it out!<\/p>\n
But there wasn\u2019t too much traffic and only a handful of people at the top. We found a park overlooking the Irish Sea, with Northern Ireland across the water.<\/p>\n
The lighthouse was a short walk away and we did a loop walk. We had planned to stay in the car park overnight, and it would have been stunning with 360-degree views, but it didn\u2019t have the vibe. And it felt quite exposed.<\/p>\n
I\u2019d seen a free spot on the way up that had toilets and a dump station, so we headed back there.<\/p>\n
When we arrived, there were already a few campervans parked up. It\u2019s weird, as it\u2019s right next to a camping ground that charges \u00a345 a night with no view, but in the free spot it\u2019s, well, free, and you are parked right overlooking the sea. \u00a345 for a shower seems excessive! We\u2019ll just find a local swimming pool or recreation centre. Or just continue to smell.<\/p>\n
It was a gorgeous spot to stop and we took a walk along the beach. It\u2019s a mix of stones and sand, and it\u2019s a really neat spot with that rugged vibe we like. Reminds me a bit of the Thames coast.<\/p>\n
We settled down for an early night.<\/p>\n
